The Real Story:
A private company was formed, the product was tested by government and private sector authorities, and the product hit the market and the rest is history. Vollco is committed to providing a solid product at a price everyone can enjoy, backed by our satisfaction guarantee.
Vollco International came about after Roger Voll, the product’s inventor, refused to pay $30.00 to $35.00 for a new set of “Lift and Cut” replacement blades for his Norelco/Philishave shaver, after they had lost their cutting edge. He wasn’t prepared to spend that kind of money just because they went dull. This was the beginning of a great Entrepreneur’s story. His determination lead to the development of the first prototype within 12 months and the results were amazing. He could now sharpen his dull blades and put a new cutting edge on them whenever he felt the need.
Common Sense Saves Money:
Marketing our sharpeners over the last 10 years has been a real struggle. VSH made a number of trips to see buyers for Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Sears, Rite Aid along with many others. With the exception of Wal-Mart carrying our products in about 700 stores in the US for a test run for about 5 months, our Vollco Shaver sharpeners have never been on the shelves in any major or national chain. The reason they stopped selling the Vollco sharpeners, is because they were no longer selling as many Philips/Norelco & Remington replacement blades.
VSH am now convinced that Wal-Mart, Sears, K-Mart and the rest, when promoting their companies, make the following statement, something along these lines. “We always have our customer’s best interest in mind” or “our customers come first”. The truth is, the only interest they have in mind, is in their bottom line. Sharpening dull blades of Philips/Norelco & Remington shavers makes complete sense. When was the last time you threw out that expensive carving knife simply because it went dull?
Sharpening dull blades for Philips/Norelco & Remington electric rotary shavers is the right thing to do, not just economically but environmentally. Buying expensive replacement blades once, twice and in some cases three times a year gets to be very expensive and not necessary.
Here’s a scary thought … how many dull Philips/Norelco & Remington replacement blades are thrown into our land fills every year, VSH would wager to guess, millions.
If you replace your dull Philips/Norelco & Remington blades twice a year at a cost of $55.00 per set, in the last 5 years, you’ve spent $550.00. Now isn’t that just a little much. For less than $19.00 you could have bought one of our sharpeners and sharpened those dull Philips/Norelco & Remington blades over and over again and saved yourself $530.00. VSH is sure you could have put all that money to a better use.
VSH find it somewhat extremely deceiving when Philips/Norelco & Remington advertise the blades in their shavers are self sharpening. Then to top it all off, Norelco and Philips recommend that you replace your blades at least once every two years. What’s not making sense here?
